What to prepare before a pilot

A useful pilot starts with a specific question and ends with a decision that can be justified.

Task, environment and baseline

Bound the work, materials, frequency, routes and exceptions. Document current execution: time, quality, resources and incidents. Agree which outcome to improve and which quality level to maintain.

Responsibilities and limits

Define who supervises, who can stop the trial and how incidents, data, access and integrations are managed. Prepare the team and agree technical scope, responsibilities and trial conditions before starting.

Indicators and decision

Choose quality, availability, completed-task and human-intervention indicators. Agree criteria to proceed, improve, wait or close. If results justify deployment, define maintenance, support, training, coverage and service terms.
